Reputation & intelligence
What is being said about your institution in Chinese, right now?
Your monitoring stops at the language line. The conversation does not.
Communications teams track English-language coverage well. Chinese-language platforms are usually a blind spot: agent claims about your admissions standards, parent discussions about safety or cost, a ranking post with wrong figures, occasionally a genuine concern that deserves a real answer. By the time it reaches your office, it is usually a forwarded screenshot with no source, no date, and no way to judge whether it matters.
AMB monitors the public Chinese-language conversation about your institution, verifies what is material, and gives your team a calm, evidence-based way to decide what to correct, what to answer, and what to leave alone.
The audit's third-party section is a one-time sample of this monitoring.
Scope
What monitoring covers
Public content on WeChat, Xiaohongshu (RED), and Baidu, searched under your English name, Chinese name, abbreviations, and common misspellings
Admissions and cost claims, safety and student experience, leadership and institutional news, agent and intermediary representations of your institution
Private groups and messages, individual families' accounts, and any collection of student or family personal data. This is public-source monitoring only.
Full capability
The wider reputation capability
Monitoring is one part of AMB's online reputation practice, which also includes:
ePR in Chinese media and platforms
Placing accurate institutional stories and announcements where Chinese-speaking families and education media actually read them, so the factual record does not rest entirely on third parties.
Reference surface management
Creating and maintaining your Baidu Baike entry and your presence in the question-and-answer surfaces (Baidu Zhidao, Zhihu) where families verify claims made elsewhere.
KOL and KOC work, with disclosure
Identifying the parent, alumni, and education voices families trust, and working with them transparently. Paid or incentivised content is disclosed as such; undisclosed paid praise is not a service we offer.
Community management
Operating the comment and message spaces under your official accounts to an agreed standard, so public questions receive accurate institutional answers instead of speculation.
Issues and crisis support
In-market listening at higher frequency during an incident, a verified fact base for your leadership, and correction work at the sources where errors are spreading.
These are scoped separately from monitoring. Most institutions start with monitoring alone, because it shows, with evidence, which of the above they actually need.
Method
How findings are triaged
Every material item is recorded with source, date, reach, and context, then sorted into one of four categories, because each needs a different response:
- 01Factual error.
A wrong figure, date, or claim about your institution.
Action: verify against your official source, then correct at the source where a correction route exists.
- 02Unanswered question.
Families repeatedly asking something your official channels do not answer.
Action: this is a content gap, not a reputation problem. It goes into your content plan.
- 03Genuine concern.
A real experience or criticism, accurately described.
Action: no correction. It is flagged for your team's judgment on whether a substantive response serves the institution.
- 04Escalation.
Material that is false and spreading, involves safety, or touches legal or leadership sensitivity.
Action: it is flagged to your named decision-maker, with the evidence file, and no public response is made by AMB unless you direct one. We do not promise a response time for escalations; the monitoring scope, including how alerts are delivered, is agreed in writing before work starts.
AMB does not manufacture positive comments, post responses under disguised identities, or attempt to suppress legitimate criticism. Those tactics are detectable, and the damage when detected exceeds any short-term benefit.
Deliverables
What you receive
Monitoring report
A monitoring report at the rhythm agreed in your scope: new material items by category, corrections requested and their status, unresolved information gaps, and items closed with no action, so leadership sees the whole picture, not only the alarming parts
Escalation alerts
Escalation alerts for category 4 items, with source evidence attached
Corrections log
A corrections log: what was wrong, where, what your official fact is, what was requested, and the outcome
Pattern review
A quarterly pattern review: which questions and claims recur, and what they suggest about your official information, which is where most reputation problems in this market actually start
Case work
Evidence
AMB's published case work includes in-market listening, factual correction, and crisis alerting for Wycombe Abbey in a U.K./China context. We describe it as exactly that, experience in this type of work, not as a U.S. institution's outcome.

Pricing
Monitoring is scoped after the audit, based on the number of names and topics to be tracked and the reporting rhythm your team needs. It is most often added to a WeChat and Xiaohongshu operations engagement, where the same team can close the information gaps monitoring finds. A written scope and price come before any work starts.
Questions
FAQ
Can you remove negative content about us?
Sometimes a factual error on a platform or agent site can be corrected or removed through that platform's process, and we pursue those cases with evidence. Legitimate criticism cannot and should not be removed, and we will tell you plainly which category an item falls into.
Do you monitor individual parents or students?
No. We monitor public content about the institution. We do not track individuals, join private groups under false pretences, or build profiles of families.
How is this different from a media monitoring subscription?
Subscription tools cover Chinese platforms thinly and cannot judge context: whether a claim is material, whether it matches your official facts, or whether it is an agent speaking in your name. The verification and triage, in Chinese and against your sources, is the service.
What do you need from us?
Your official fact sources, the names and spellings to track, and one named decision-maker for escalations.
